well there's also the fact that the Moon helps to keep the time! (not just for humans, I'm sure...any studies on creatures who adapt themselves to lunar cycles? they must exist ~Chara)
I regarded the Moon as a friend in childhood, I really did. I was unhappy and I suppose that the stars and the planets and the Moon seemed somehow more real than the things around me, if you know what I mean. Much later I learned that Mani, the Norse god who's in charge of the Moon, is said to be a protector of lost or abandoned children. That felt very appropriate to me. ~Chara
