(This post was composed with an attached image showing our Leagues stats. At total level 1,000 we have 82 Magic and 53 Ranged.)

This was meant to be a ranged build, but I’ve got some catching up to do. Golden God may be a little bit broken in terms of magic gains. And cash too. And I haven’t even got dragon yet, just rune skirts.

Otherwise generally ambling along. Tried to get autocasting ancients, but the ancient staff needs 50 attack so that’s off the table for now. Really wanna power through some more tasks to open up Asgarnia. That opens up some stuff that’s currently pretty annoying.

Speaking of annoying, I bought 20k blood runes 50 per click. (Ali Morrisane sells them in the Desert, if anyone is interested. You do have to complete a sudoku first.) Before realising I can’t autocast ancients yet. It was fun being a whole tier of spell above everyone else at pyrefiends. Fast defence experience too. Actually, magic rush and then fighting enemies who use magic is kind of interesting, because of the 70/30 magic/defence influence on your magic defence.

Went with the Clue Compass in the end, since it’s mostly slightly better than Bank Heist for reaching important places, and very very good on clues.

And sadly, I got crashed twice trying to kill Timmy in the Wizards’ Tower. Did get him the third time though, and kills weren’t too long with the bone crossbow.

Yes, @FaeAlchemist chose the alchemy relic. What else did you expect?

I mean seriously, I chose it for mechanical reasons—Tali’s alchemy maps better to Herblore than the alchemy spells. But then again, she is named Chrysopoeia… (The process of turning something into gold.)

Not sure whether to do A Kingdom Divided to unlock thralls, or the solo Wintertodt achievment to unlock Ghommal's Hilt 1, which in turn gives improves rates of Warriors' Guild tokens for grinding out that dragon defender. Both are ultimately working towards the same goal, of improving our DPS. Once we beat AKD we'll also want to get ourselves a rune pouch too, for extra space efficiency...

Didn't feel like doing Legends' Quest right now, so instead did... Rogues' Den? Greenlogged it (got 5/5 rogue equipment pieces). This unit now understands why RS3 deleted this, but also it wasn't too bad.

The only reason we haven't done One Small Favour yet is Spoke was busy; but it did dibs the quest so I guess we'll do it in [unknown timespan].

It is cute to have a headmate who gets euphoric at the idea of a comically long fetch quest.

OSRS has one boss called the Hunllef, and one called the Nightmare (of Ashihama, but everyone drops that). This is very confusing for us specifically.

Doing them in one day really helps with the two mandatory reruns of the Pass; and getting Arandar and charter ships as alternative routes feels great.

It is a little weird to me that they went out of their way to put a limestone rock and a furnace in Tirannwn… but not a pestle and mortar, pickaxe, or most importantly, fractional distilator. It’s like they almost didn’t want to send you through the Pass a second time.

Did it all for a clue scroll. Now we have a Wildy coordinate clue .-. That’s gonna be fun.

Played some Rivals 2 with a sibling; had a good time. Some technical issues mean I’ve been using the Steam controller, which after some fiddling with the touch pad settings is bearable.

Fleet’s really fun. Absolutely kicked our siblings but with her, but they asked me to keep playing her to learn how not to do that. Feels like she combines bits of Young Link and Ness in an emjoyable fashion. One game I got both the “KO with an up special” and “juggle an opponent with three up smashes without missing” then SDed my final stock. For context our sibling was playing Loxodont, which honestly I think is just a skewed matchup.

Particular moves I’ve been enjoying: spamming the everloving fuck out of side smash. Using side special to make a big wall where I can cover low and high approaches. Uptilt feels good for comboing into aerials, which is nice. And of course lazily juggling from the ground with up smash.

Clairen’s also fun, our secondary character from Rivals 1. Not played as much of her, and definitely takes more concentration than Fleet. Need to work out when to use her neutral special, since we’re not used to having it as an option.

Unsurprisingly, our main, Shovel Knight, was cut. So Meredith started off with Clairen, who continues to be alright but feeling slightly... off... Love her vibes, played a bunch of swordies in Smash, but she's never quite felt natural.

I decided to try out Fleet today, and man she can clown on the AI. Give my a bow to spam and I'm a very happy checks notes sylvy. Then I played a mirror match and realised I don't know shit about how to play Fleet. Finished things up by doing a round as Maypul, who moreso than Rivals 1 feels like a natural fit for us. Just need to sort out our KO strats. Also her victory animation has her grappling the camera with her vines which definitely made me feel some stuff.

As quite a casual player, our general thoughts on the game, I guess. Offstage feels even scarier, it feels like gou fall faster now. Fleet's recovery is super good though; I guess that's an Air thing. Grabs feel not that different—then again, we played a lot of Clairen in Rivals 1, who had a command grab. Shields are annoying though. A counter to our all out attack style :( Animations look fluid, models are good. Stages feel a bit blander than the later Rivals 1 designs, from an aesthetic perspective. Definitely wanna pick this up; though we've always had issues finding friends to play Rivals 1 with.

Hit 65 Attack and Strength in RuneScape, gaining access to the Warriors' Guild. I am now 180 kills dry on an iron defender. This is my first brutally dry grind on this account, I think. With these stats though, I think I'll do well against hespori. Or at least better.

Cleared things up at the Farming Guild, and ran our herblore stocks dry, so decided to have a go at the final Varrock Medium Task: teleporting to the Dig Site with a ruby amulet. Turns out Mage Training Arena is actually super good? I was prepared for a long haul, but ended up sticking beyond the level target to round off the telekinesis points required to buy bones to peaches. I never even touched the other three rooms.

Now we have Varrock Armour 2, and can buy 30 staves a day from Zaff. Non-farming goals right now are Fighter's Torso (still) and Underground Pass / Regicide (clue scroll access).

Doing Canifis rooftop course with music on shuffle. Pharaoh's Tomb (the Agility Pyramid music) starts playing, and I instantly fail an obstacle twice in a row. The true Agility Pyramid experience.

  • Got a contract from the Farming Guild to grow woad.
  • No woad seeds, so I check the Guild's shop. They don't sell them.
  • Look up where to get them. Pickpocket Master Farmers.
  • Don't have the Thieving level, so travel across the continent to steal from fruit stalls.
  • Return to the Guild, pickpocket a Master Farmer.
  • Nearly die from being slapped so much, gain another Thieving level.
  • Finally get one (1) woad seed.
There is one place that has better odds than Master Farmers... it's Farming Guild contracts. Did get three teak seeds out of it, so it was worth it, eventually.

Things've been hectic still today, but I did chill out and do some RuneScape for a bit. Hit 58 attack, got a lot of seaweed, some good crafting exp. Groupee got the granite shield for us, but we can't wield it until hitting 50/50 Strength/Defence, and 60 Attack is still the priority. Groupee also picked up a mind talisman from Guardians of the Rift, allowing us to finally clear out the Fally Tasks and hit 35 Herblore from the lamp. All in all, making good progress towards our gear and level goals. And ultracompost means farming feels pretty alright. Especially passive seaweed while fighting ammonite crabs nearby.
